Admisions
Undergraduate Program
Each department sets its own cut-off score in the System-wide Admission and Scholarship Examination (SASE). To be admitted into any program, freshmen and transferees have to obtain a minimum required score in Language Usage (LU) and Numerical Ability (NA). Whenever there are available slots, shifters may also be accepted provided that they obtain a grade of 2.00 or better in both English 1 and Math 1 and provided further that their GPA is not less than 3.00. Interviews shall also be conducted among applicants. For those coming from institutions outside the MSU system, they shall pass the SASE for transferees. They should pass the interview.
For Entrpreneurial Marketing Program, freshmen must also obtain the minimum required scores in Science (Sci) and Aptitude (TA). Whenever there are available slots, shifters may also be accepted provided that they obtain a grade of 2.00 or better in both English 1 and Math 1 or a grade point average of 2.00 or better in all English and Math subjects taken and provided further that their GPA is not less than 3.00.
Shifters and transferees shall be required to present appropriate credentials such as Evaluation sheet duly signed by the previous academic year adviser/certificate of Courses taken or Transcript of Record for Transferees as basis for evaluation and admission. Other requirements may be announced by the university thru the appropriate offices.
Graduate Program
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree regardless of the field of study.
- An undergraduate weighted average of at least 2.0 or some evidence of potential to do graduate work.
These qualifications shall be determined through the submission of the following:
- Official Transcript of Record
- Duly accomplished Application for Admission
- Recommendation from a Former Professor
- Recommendation from Current Supervisor
- An interview with the MBM Program Committee
- Satisfactory score in the MBM Program's admission Test
- Satisfactory score in English-Proficiency Test
- Passing the pre-admission requirements for those applicants who may be found deficient in the appropriate basic tools where such tools are required prior to enrolling in certain courses.
Retention Policy
Undergraduate Program
Retention requirements differ in every program. The Accountancy program impose the highest SASE cut-off scores for admission and a passing rate in each accounting course of 65%. Only a passing grade is required in the first two basic accounting courses, namely: Acctg 101 and Acctg 102. A student fails in either subject shall be ineligible to continue in the program and shall be advised to shift.
The Economics program requires a passing grade in Econ 1, Econ 60 and Econ 61. The Entreprenurial Marketing program requires a passing grade in Mktg 101, 102 and 103.
Transferees shall be required to present appropriate credential such as Certificate of Courses taken as basis for evaluation and admission. Other requirements may be announced by the Institute thru the appropriate offices.
- A student may be given for a grade lower than 2.0 in any of the core elective courses, however, only grades of 2.0 or better would be credited toward major or specialized course as a substitute. The 2.0 substituted course will be credited as an elective course.
- A student who fails to get a weighted average grade of 2.0 or better for two successive trimesters will be advised to withdraw from the program.
