In its quest for excellence, MSU-IIT’s academic affairs had sustained its momentum of growth. Its remarkable record achieved in 2007 was two (2) graduates in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the College of Engineering made it in a row as First and Second Placers in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Board Examination in November 2007 by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). They are Jake Daryll Ello Obina and Virgil Roy Requiroso Ajo, respectively. Almost all of the disciplines where the Institute fielded in the PRC licensure examinations obtained higher percentage rating than the national passing average, and notable of which the PRC recognized MSU-IIT as No. 1 performing schools in the licensure examinations for civil engineering, mechanical engineering and electronics and communication engineering.

The year 2007 marked the renewal of tenure of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in heading the Institute’s academic community for another three-year term. This was acted by the Board of Regents in its September 2007 meeting (BOR Res. No. 131, S. 2007).

Beginning AY 2007-08 four (4) programs were opened, namely; Doctor of Engineering with fifteen (15) initial students enrolled at the College of Engineering; BS in Engineering Technology Management and BS Instrumentation and Mechatronics with seventy-three (73) and twenty-nine (29) initial students enrolled, respectively at the School of Engineering Technology; and a 2-Year Diploma Program in Electronics Technology with seventy-nine (79) initial students enrolled at the School of Computer Studies. The latter was also offered as an extension program at MSU-Balo-i and MSU-Naawan.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Education programs had its AACCUP Level II Re-accredited for a period up to 2011. The evaluation process was conducted in March 2007.

In June 2007 in time for the opening of classes for AY 2007-08, six (6) faculty members, four (4) of whom completed their doctoral studies abroad and resumed teaching. Fourteen (14) faculty members were also sent as new grantees in various disciplines under the Institute Academic Personnel Development Program (APDP), in addition to the continuing faculty grantees.

The School of Engineering Technology’s students team participant composed of April Manlangit and Faith Baldonado garnered 1st place in the 2007 National Skills Competition held at UP on September 25, 2007 conducted by the Mechatronics & Robotics Society of the Philippines.

Under BOR Res. No. 102, S. 2007, the College of Business Administration had been renamed as College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA). Renaming the college was in accord with the recommendation of the Level I Accreditation by the AACUP of the College.

The Institute had continued as delivering higher education institution of the Commission of Higher Education Faculty Development Program (CHED FDP). In AY 2007-08 forty (40) new graduate students enrolled in various disciplines as recipients of the CHED-Faculty Development Program.

Through linkages, the College of Education was recognized as partners of Intel Philippines, FIT-ED, and UP NISMED for successfully integrating Information and Communication Technology into teacher education programs.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) was a recipient of a financial assistance for the acquisition of a complete set of Speech Lab equipment from Congressman Prospero Pichay.

In 2007 there had been an increase of publications among the faculty members were published in the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) refereed journals and presentation in various national and international gatherings.
