The College of Education of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology is ranked
second top performing school in both elementary (Category A: with 10-99
examinees) and secondary (Category C: with 300-499 examinees) education
levels in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) conducted last
September 28, 2008 by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Selected MSU-IIT faculty members attended the First Biennial National
Convention and General assembly of all the members of the Philippine
Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc. with the theme;
“Quality Management of community Extension Services” held at
the Pearlmont Inn, Cagayan de Oro city last October 27-29, 2008.
Last October 23-24, 2008, the Mathematical Society of the Philippines of
Regions 10 and 12 and the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao gathered in
the Annual Convention at the MSU-IIT Mini Theater. The convention was
participated by the Regional Mathematicians and Math Educators.
Four faculty members from the College of Education actively participated
in the International Conference on Science and Mathematics Education held
at UP-NISMED in Diliman, Quezon City last October 27-29, 2008. The
conference was organized by UP-NISMED in cooperation with the Department of
Education, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Science and
Technology-Science Education Institute and International Council of
Associations for Science Education. The theme of the conference
“Meeting Challenges in Science and Mathematics Education:
Innovations in Action,” encompassed a number of interesting
topics ranging from policy formation in science education, technology
integration, curriculum development, educational reform and many others,
all of which were of great importance in achieving progress in the field of
Science and Mathematics education.
Twenty men, women and children from the Badjao Community at Purok 4,
Tambacan, Iligan City were guests during the culminating activity of
Education 101N Social Dimension of Education classes under Dr. Rizalina
Gomez titled “The Badjaos: A Glimpse of their Culture.
Six faculty members of the College of Education have just successfully
concluded their two-day Enhancement Workshop on November 12-13, 2008 at
World Links Training Center of the said college. The said activity aimed
for the better implementation of the course in Educational Technology A and
B.
Twenty-one fourth year students of Bachelor of Secondary Education major
in Mathematics initiated a seminar entitled Math++: A Seminar on using
Technology in Teaching Mathematics last October 21 to 22, 2008 at the
I-school computer laboratory of the MSU-IIT Integrated Developmental
School.
After the program orientation at the Palawan State University, the next
university to follow suit is the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute
of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City. The orientation, held in 24
April 2008 at the MSU-IIT campus, paved the way for the university
officials, faculty and staff to understand the rigors of program
implementation.
Eleven fourth year students of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in
Technology and Livelihood Education underwent Intel Teach Program: Skills
for Success course every Saturday morning starting September 6 until
October 11, 2008.
A World Bank-backed non-profit group has inaugurated a new computer
laboratory at a top Mindanao university to train teachers and would-be
teachers in the region for the integration of ICT in education.
